Google Bans zoom and promotes Google meet

In recent time due to corona lock down, Zoom teleconferencing platform become the most popular free video conferencing tool. From small organization to big MNCs like Google using zoom for their video conferencing.

But in starting of this month zoom started facing security issues. Many Users world wide reported security concerns. People reports that unknown users starts random meeting and it causes security issue for them. People named this issue as "zoombombing". In reply to this, zoom ceo Eric Yuan came live and accepted issue. Zoom has stopped feature updates for 90 days for this security and privacy concerns. (This is why security testing is critical !)

Google may found this critical and Emailed their employees not to use zoom. Even they reported "Zoom will be discontinued in all the gsuit enabled devices". Instead Google suggested to use google meet for video conferencing. Google meet is the google's video conferencing tool which was earlier known as hangout meet.

Google spokesperson Jose Castaneda tells that “We have long had a policy of not allowing employees to use unapproved apps for work that are outside of our corporate network,” . “Recently, our security team informed employees using Zoom Desktop Client that it will no longer run on corporate computers as it does not meet our security standards for apps used by our employees. However employees allowed to use zoom for their personal communication if they want.

Google meet started gaining millions of users every day and started becoming popular never before.
